<br /> A RESOLUTION to commend the 1993 Lakewcod High School
<br />Barnstormers cast and crew of "The Rusty Tricycle" for winning
<br />first place in the Cleveland High School Theater Competition,
<br />sponsored by Cox Cable and the Bravo! Cable Network.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the 1993 Barnstormers captured .first place in
<br />the contest with their original entry, "The Rusty Tricycle",
<br />educational multimedia production written, acted, directed and
<br />designed by the students themselves; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the show is one of significant societal
<br />import, dealing as it does with the topic of AIDS and the fact
<br />that we all are in some way. living with the disease; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the students' intelligent and sensitive yet
<br />"in-your-face" approach to their subject matter rendered their
<br />play effective and important, and it was recognized as such not
<br />only by Cox Cable and Bravo! but by the Lakewood Board of
<br />Education's request for a command performance; and
<br />

<br />WHEREAS, the cast and crew of "The Rusty Tricycle",
<br />by Mr. Dave Gannon and Ms. Trish Hendy, are Adam
<br />Susan Brook, Stephen Cairns, Mary Cay Chormanski, Sarah
<br />Colleen Dowling, Emily Dziak, Sarah Fritsch, Karyn
<br />Brendan Kehoe, Teela Kovacs, Monica Olejko, Dan
<br />Janine Salloum, Christa Sinkewich, Nettie Wasowski,
<br />
<br />Jessica Wilks, and Kirsten Wilks; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, their success in the local Cox/Bravo!
<br />competition has entitled the cast and crew to a $1,000 grant and
<br />a "Cultural Night Out", as well as automatic entry into the
<br />National High School Theater Competition; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the LHS Barnstormers, through their
<br />dedication, industry, and. commitment to social awareness and
<br />responsibility, have brought distinction and honor~ not only to
<br />themselves but to the entire community;
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF ©HIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby
<br />extend to the LHS Barnstormers its commendation, and that of all
<br />the citizens of the Lakewood Community for their winning first
<br />place in the Cleveland High School Theater Competition.
