<br /> A RESOLUTION to commend the 1992 Lakewood High School
<br />Roadshow on receiving Down Beat magazine's 1992 "Outstanding
<br />Performance" award in the High School Vocal Jazz Choir category;
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, 1992 marks the 5th year of the past 7 years
<br />that the LHS Roadshow has been recognized in Down Beat's annual
<br />Student Achievement Awards issue as one of the top two high
<br />school jazz choirs in the U.S. and Canada; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, 1992 LHS graduates Tammy Kovatch and Kate
<br />Beyer, respectively, were individually recognized as the two
<br />winners in the "Outstanding Female Solo Performance - High
<br />School" category; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Roadshow, formed in 1979 by then and
<br />current Director Gerald A. Wondrak, was the first group of its
<br />kind in the State of Ohio, and through its continual presence and
<br />popularity has served as a positive model for the creation of
<br />several other high school jazz choirs in the Northeast Ohio Area
<br />and thus played an important role in the local expansion and
<br />spread of jazz education and appreciation; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the members OF THE 1992 Roadshow were Amy
<br />Bednarski, Kate Beyer, Timothy Brent, Matthew Charboneau, Fidelle
<br />Helbling, Keith Kelley, Jr., David Koster, Tammy Kovatch, Theresa
<br />Kovatch, Michael London, David Malloy, Christine Montgomery,
<br />Jennifer Morris, Lisa Pollock, Christopher Rigby, Jason Rigby,
<br />David Schreiner, Dean Stamatis, Heather Stiegler, Joshua Stollar
<br />and Benjamin Wright; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Roadshow experience not only exposes
<br />students to the joys of singing this truly American music and
<br />learning its history, but demands standards of musical
<br />excellence, personal responsibility, and group cooperation and
<br />dedication whose lessons endure well beyond the high school
<br />years; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the 1992 Lakewood High School Roadshow,
<br />through their dedication, industry and exuberant passion for
<br />their craft, have brought honor anddistinction not only to
<br />themselves, but to the entire community;
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby
<br />extend to Director Gerald A. Wondrak and the 1992 Lakewood High
<br />School Roadshow its commendation, and that of all the citizens of
<br />the Lakewood Community on receiving Down Beat magazine's 1992
<br />"Outstanding Performance" award in the High School Vocal Jazz
<br />Choir category.

<br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is
<br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of
<br />this Resolution to Director Gerald A. Wondrak, Lakewood High
<br />School, 14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that
<br />a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the
<br />meeting.
