RESOLUTION NO. 6845-93 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating <br />June 6-13, 1993, as National Safe <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br />and proclaiming the week of <br />Boating Week in the City of <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than 70 million Americans will choose <br />recreational boating as a way to relax with family and friends in <br />1993. Unfortunately, tragedies do' occur on the water. <br />Responsible boat operators learn about their boats, safety <br />equipment, the environment in which they operate and in their own <br />abilities and limitations; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in recognizing that hundreds of lives could be <br />saved each year by spreading safe boating information to the <br />public, the Congress of the United States by joint resolution <br />requested the President to proclaim annually one week as National <br />Safe Boating Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood is bordered on two sides by navigable <br />waterways and it is the intention of this Administration to <br />affirm and support the goals of National Safe Boating Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the availability of safe boater information <br />made possible by Rocky River Power Squadron through boater safety <br />week may help prevent a boating tragedy; and <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />support the goals of National Safe Boating Week and designate and <br />proclaim June 6-13, 1993, as National Safe Boating Week in the <br />City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section <br />those who use the waterways to <br />to maintain their own safety <br />them. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />2.
