ORDINANCE NO. 6846-93 <br /> <br /> BY:Boscia, Gallagher, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend the Harding Middle School <br />"Classroom of Champions" team for their first place finish in the <br />4th annual "Classroom of Champions Grand Championship" on May 12, <br />1993; <br /> WHEREAS, the year-long competition, held for elementary <br />and middle school students, began last November with 21 <br />elementary and middle school teams comprised of 7th and 8th <br />graders participating; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Harding team pulled off a close and <br />thrilling victory over their opponents from two local parochial <br />schools; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the team, consisting of David Harbarger, <br />Captain, Mark Dziak and John Igrec along with alternates Annelise <br />Preslan, Gabor Revy and Jonathan Seeds achieved their success <br />under the leadership of Faculty Advisers Glen DiBiasio and Sue <br />Albrecht; and <br /> WHEREAS, the team's weeks of hard work planning and <br />practicing various strategies and sharpening game skills paid off <br />as they won their preliminary round with the highest point total <br />of the year and won the Grand Champion Round despite a late-game <br />comeback by one of their opponents; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the "Classroom of Champions" team has brought <br />distinction not only to themselves but to the entire community <br />and their accomplishments should be recognized in a proper and <br />fitting manner; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br /> extend to the Harding Middle School "Classroom of Champions" team <br /> its commendation, and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood <br /> Community for their outstanding achievement. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
