RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6861-93 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A Resolution declaring the month of September, 1993 as <br />"WOMEN'S HEALTH MONTH" in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Women's health is an issue of great concern in <br />society, and disease prevention and health promotion have become <br />a community as well as a personal responsibility, and <br /> <br /> 'WHEREAS, women comprise 53% of the population of Lakewood <br />and head up over 12% of the single parent households in our city, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, one half of Lakewood's work force if female, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, maintaining optimum health of women is critical to <br />the continued viability of the city because of their multiple <br />responsibilities to family, the city's work force, and society as <br />a whole, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the health status and quality of life of women can <br />be enhanced by prevention and early detection efforts, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council and the Mayor of the City of Lakewood <br />give due recognition and cognizance to the health of each an~ <br />every woman in this community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor do hereby <br />establish the m~nth of September as "Women's Health Month: <br />throughout the City and encourage continued and expanded <br />sensitivity to the health and emotional needs of women and <br />further encourage women to take action to protect and enhance <br />their health. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
