RESOLUTION NO. §873-93 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, <br />Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION calling upon the people of this City to participate in <br />fire prevention activities at home, work and school, and to heed the message: <br />"Get Out, Stay Out! Your Fire Safe Response" as the 1993 Fire Prevention Week <br />theme suggests. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, planning ahead and practicing can greatly enhance our <br />ability to escape from fire; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the value of escape planning at home, at work and wherever <br />we are is well-documented; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, every fire escape plan should include a meeting place <br />outside where everyone can be accounted for and await the Fire Department; and <br /> <br />to <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, once safely outside, we must always resist any temptation <br />re-enter a burning building because no property is worth risking a life; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Fire Fighters are trained and equipped to rescue people <br />trapped inside burning building; it is important to teach children that "Get <br />Out; Stay Out" is the fire-safe response; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the fire service of Lakewood is dedicated' to the safety of <br />life and property from the devastating effects of fire; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood will commemorate the great Chicago <br />Fire of 1871, which killed 250 persons, left 100,000 homeless, and destroyed <br />more than 17,400 buildings by declaring October 3-9, 1993 as Fire Prevention <br />Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS; those members of the fire service are joined by other <br />concerned citizens of this City, as well as business, schools, service clubs <br />and organizations in their fire safety efforts; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor designate and <br />proclaim October 3-9, 1993 as Fire Prevention Week and call upon the people of <br />Lakewood to participate in fire prevention activities at home, work and <br />school, and to heed the message: "Get Out, Stay Out~ Your Fire Safe Response" <br />as the 1993 Fire Prevention Week theme suggests. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of ~ouncil be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of,~is~Resolution to <br />Chief Lawrence Mroz, Station ~3, 12567 Clift~oj~, 0~4~107, and that <br />a copy of this Resolution be spread upo~es 7~ t~f¢~ng. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
