PLEASE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION 6892-95 <br />Referred to Finance Committee on 12/6/93. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 689Z-93 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works <br />to establish sewer rates for year beginning January 1, 1994. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, sufficient revenues are required to recover costs budgeted <br />for the operation of Wastewater Division in 1994, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in order to offset the continuing general increases in cost <br />of operation, it is necessary for the City to increase the rates charged to <br />its consumers, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a special rate for persons qualifying for Homestead exemp- <br />tion has previouslYbeen established for sewer charges, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, i% has been determined that extending a 15% reduction for <br />sewer charges to persons qualifying would not greatly effect the revenues for <br />the Wastewater Operating Fund, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Section 902.04 of the City of Lakewood Codified Ordinances <br />require the Council set a sewer rate sufficient to recover both operating and <br />capital improvement's costs for the Wastewater Division; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That it has been determined that the current sewer rate <br />is insufficient to meet requirements'that the Wastewater Operating Fund remain <br />a self-supporting enterprise. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to establish sewer rates charged by the Lakewood <br />Division of Water effective danuary 1, 1994, as follows: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or less of <br />water, used during each one or three-month billing period shall <br />not exceed TWELVE DOLLARS AND TEN CENTS ($12.10}. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during each One <br />or three-month billing period shall cost not more than 121.0¢ <br />per one-hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to establish special Homestead Exemption sewer rates <br />charged by the Lakewood Division of Water effective January 1, 1994, for all <br />persons qualifying for this exemption as established by Resolution 6182-87 as <br />follows: <br /> <br />The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or less of <br />water used during each one or three-month billing period shall <br />not exceed TEN DOLLARS AND TWENTY-NINE CENTS ($10.29~. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during each one <br />or three-month billing period shall cost not more than 102.9¢ <br />per one-hundred cubic feet. <br /> <br /> <br />
