PLEASE SUBSTITUTE FOR RESOLUTION 6892-95 Referred to Finance Committee on 12/6/93. RESOLUTION NO. 689Z-93 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Director of Public Works to establish sewer rates for year beginning January 1, 1994. WHEREAS, sufficient revenues are required to recover costs budgeted for the operation of Wastewater Division in 1994, and WHEREAS, in order to offset the continuing general increases in cost of operation, it is necessary for the City to increase the rates charged to its consumers, and WHEREAS, a special rate for persons qualifying for Homestead exemp- tion has previouslYbeen established for sewer charges, and WHEREAS, i% has been determined that extending a 15% reduction for sewer charges to persons qualifying would not greatly effect the revenues for the Wastewater Operating Fund, and WHEREAS, Section 902.04 of the City of Lakewood Codified Ordinances require the Council set a sewer rate sufficient to recover both operating and capital improvement's costs for the Wastewater Division; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That it has been determined that the current sewer rate is insufficient to meet requirements'that the Wastewater Operating Fund remain a self-supporting enterprise. Section 2. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby authorized and directed to establish sewer rates charged by the Lakewood Division of Water effective danuary 1, 1994, as follows: (1) The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or less of water, used during each one or three-month billing period shall not exceed TWELVE DOLLARS AND TEN CENTS ($12.10}. (2) All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during each One or three-month billing period shall cost not more than 121.0¢ per one-hundred cubic feet. Section 3. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby authorized and directed to establish special Homestead Exemption sewer rates charged by the Lakewood Division of Water effective January 1, 1994, for all persons qualifying for this exemption as established by Resolution 6182-87 as follows: The minimum charge for the first 1,000 cubic feet or less of water used during each one or three-month billing period shall not exceed TEN DOLLARS AND TWENTY-NINE CENTS ($10.29~. (2) All water used in excess of 1,000 cubic feet during each one or three-month billing period shall cost not more than 102.9¢ per one-hundred cubic feet.
