RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7003-95 BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Flannery, George, <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming February 11, 1995 as League <br />of Women Voters Day in Lakewood in celebration of the 75th <br />Anniversary of the League of Women Voters. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an informed and active citizenry is vital to <br />the democratic government of the United States; and <br /> <br /> wHEREAS,.the League of Women Voters of Ohio has served <br />the State of Ohio by encouraging informed and active citizen <br />participation in government since its founding in 1920; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Lakewood was <br />founded as the Lakewood Women's Political Study Club and has <br />served the City of Lakewood to the same purpose since 1917; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Lakewood has <br />been a constant source of ideas for the betterment of Lakewood, <br />including the low interest loan program now offered through the <br />Community Development Center; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the'Lakewood Candidates Night, sponsored by <br />the League of Women Voters of Lakewood, is a local election event <br />in which each of us elected officials have all enthusiastically <br />participated; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the League of Women Voters of Ohio is <br />celebrating its 75th Anniversary of nonpartisan voter service to <br />the citizens of Ohio on February 14, 1995; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, .STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby <br />proclaim February 11, 1995 as League of Women Voters Day in <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
