RESOLUTION NO. 7025-95 BY: Boscia, Flanner¥, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION to honor St. Edward High School Eagles Hockey Team on winning its Ohio record Sixth State Championship. WHEREAS, the latest victory by this hockey team of renown was achieved in a game with Bowling Green, and WHEREAS, spectacular efforts' afforded by players such as Ed DeFiore, who scored the winning goal, and Chris Corridoni, who kept the Eagles in the game with .exceptional goaltending resulted in an exciting 2-1 win, and WHEREAS, St. Edward tri-captains Pat Metzger, Tim McClain and Dave Siarkowski, along with defenseman Dave Sonsky (who scored two goals in the semifinal victory), Adam Grudzien and Chris Corridoni were the leaders for the Eagles this season and deserve special recognition, and WHEREAS, Coach Bob Whidden has guided St. Edward High School to the state championship in 10 of his 11 years at the school, securing a legacy for himself and his support staff, and WHEREAS, all members of this winning team have brought due recognition and honor, not only to themselves, but to the entire Lakewood community; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby extend to St. Edward High School Eagles Hockey Team its congratulations and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood Community for their outstanding athletic achievements. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Coach Bob Whidden, St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, OH 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
