RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />7065-95 BY: Boscia, Flannery, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie <br /> <br /> ^ o~-o,-~,, m,-,,, urging Senators Glenn and DeWine to <br /> ~ r~L~.~,-,ILU I I~]1~1 <br />support the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the National Center for Injury Prevention and <br />Control (CIPC) is part of the Center for Disease Control of the <br />Department of Health and Human Services, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the ClPC is one of the few organizations <br />conducting research designed to help us understand how to reduce <br />the current wave of violence exhibited by our children, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this includes work on interpersonal youth <br />violence, homicide, suicide and the use and accessibility of firearms, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recently the CIPC has been funding specific <br />evaluations of programs aimed at reducing the-escalating rates of <br />youth violence and the increase in recidivism among young <br />perpetrators, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many of these intervention and prevention <br />programs are vital resources to our local schools, to our parents, and <br />to our community; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council, for and on behalf of all <br />citizens of the City of Lakewood, strongly urges our Federal Senators <br />to support the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
