RESOLUTION NO. 7176-96 BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Lakewood's Help to Others (H20) <br />Day Camp Program for outstanding communi~ service. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 'the H20 Program st,'ted in 1993 with high school <br />students doing volunteer work, eventually expanding to include a day camp for <br />middle school students, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the camp is to unlock the potential of 11 <br />to 14 year olds, mixing fun and work, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the program was founded on the belief that young <br />people would choose to do service work if given the right framework, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there are four, two-week sessions of the day camp <br />with 30 students each, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, whether organi~'ng the sale of donated clothes or <br />serving food at a shelter, students participating in the H20 Camp develop their <br />skills in community service while expanding their f~elings of compassion, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the H20 Camp provides a safe, healthy outlet for an <br />increasing number of students in our community and contributes to the safe, <br />healthy environment of our City; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council and Mayor hereby commend <br />Lakewood's Help to Others (H20) Day Camp program for outstanding <br />community service. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the I-I20 Camp c/o <br />Celia Dorsch, Youth Office, 13616 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, 44107, and <br />that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />MAYOR / <br /> <br /> <br />
