RESOLUTION NO. 7185-96 BY: Bosci~, Corrigan, Flanner¥, George, Rot1~., Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION honoring America's Firefign:ers who have made the supreme sacrifice while carrying out their duties :o our Nation and its communities. WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan dedicated the Fallen Fire- fighters Memorial on October 4, 1981,' proclaiming that every year the Sunday immediately following Fire Prevention Week be declared Fallen Fire- fighters Memorial Day; and a memorial service is conducted on the campus at the National Emergency Training Center to remember these brave American~, and WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedicatiOn and sacrifice the Firefighters of this Country make for the protection and well-being of all our citizens, and WHEREAS, the Firefighters of Lakewood will be honoring their fallen brothers and sisters across this Nation on Sunday, October 13, 1996, at the memorial sculpture located at 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Station #1; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor will commemorate the sacrifice of America's Firefighters by declaring October 13, 1996 in the City as Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City flags will be flown at the half staff in their honor. Hereinafter, this day will be remen~ered on the Sunday following national observance of Fire Prevention Week. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 12567 Clifton Boulevard, c/o Michael A. Jurchenko, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Adopted: ~ President q~yor
