Resolution No. 7191-96 By: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, George, Roth, Seelie, Smith A RESOLUTION to honor area students who have been recognized as National Merit Semi-Finalists and Commended Students in the 1997 National Merit Scholarship Program. WHEREAS, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation has acknowledged several Lakewood residents as having shown exceptional academic promise through their scores on the 1995 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test;, and WHEREAS, the students recognized as a National Merit Semi- Finalists, who may later be eligible for National Merit Scholarship awards are Lakewood High School student Kristen Flurkey, St. Ignatius High School students Peter Brereton, and Nicholas Davalla, and WHEREAS, those recognized as National Merit Commended Students are St. Ignatius High School students Michael Tobin, Nathaniel Velci,o, Lakewood High School students Katherine Collin, Katherine Dumbrys, John Igrec, Audrius Jucaitis, Brian Teeter, Beckett Warren, Jerry Yang, St. Edward High School student Alexander Topala, and WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is pleased to acknowledge all of these young people as possessing the potential to achieve great heights and contribute invaluably to society; now, therefore, BE 1T RESOLVED BY THE C1TY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby extend to the aforementioned thirteen students its commendation, and that of all the citizens of the Lakewood Community for their academic achievements. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Lakewood High School, 14100 Franklin, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the meeting.
