RESOLUTION NO. 7215-97 <br /> <br /> George, Roth, Seelie, <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION requesting that the Director of the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation (O.D.O.T.) establish a 25 mph (mile per hour) restriction on Franklin <br />Boulevard and Hilliard Road within the municipal boundaries of the city of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ohio is a home rule state, the appropriate traffic studies must be <br />conducted by local officials within incorporated communities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, O.D.O.T. will use these studies to determine the safe and reasonable <br />speed limit on our roads; and <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, <br /> Smith <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works and the Traffic Engineer for the city of <br />Lakewood concluded that a 25 mph posted speed limit will further protect the safety and <br />welfare of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists within the community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has determined, based on the appropriate studies and the <br />recommendation of city officials, that the current statutory vehicular speed limit <br />established by Ohio Revised Code 4511.21 is greater than that considered reasonable and <br />safe on the section of road described above; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby request that the Director of the <br />Ohio Department of Transportation establish a 25 mph restriction on Franklin Boulevard <br />and Hilliard Road within the municipal boundaries of the city of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That when this Council is advised that the Director of the Ohio <br />Department of Transportation has determined and declared a reasonable and safe speed <br />limit on the section of road described in Section 1 hereof, standard signs, properly posted <br />and giving notice thereof wilt be erected. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting <br />~f t.~s C,o. un, c. il, and. ~at al! such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees <br />mat resmtea m SUCh torma~ action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance <br />with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> ction 4.
