RESOLUTION NO. 7245-97 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring the members of Lakewood Arts Festival, [nc. <br />on their 20th Anniversary. of dedicated public service to the Cit. of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this August 2, 1997, will be the 20th Anniversary of the <br />Lakewood Arts Festival: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Arts Festival highlights and showcases a <br />var/cry of artistic media from over 150 artists from Ohio and surround/ne states, chosen <br />from over 350 who apply to be part of the Festival: and ~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Arts Festival also includes the participation of <br />20 local, non-profit institutions, which both contribute to and benefit fi.om the exposure <br />of the day: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Arts Festival draxvs I0.000 people annually to <br />downtown LakxvOod: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Arts Festival benefits all of Lakewood, <br /> providing record business to local retailers, restaurants, and financial institutions, as well <br /> as showing offour homes, gardens, and front porches to admiring visitors: and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, over the past 20 years the Lakewood Arts Festival has <br />axvarded more than 540.000 in scholarships to worthy young people: and <br /> <br /> W2-IEREAS, the Lakewood Arts Festival is administered by a volunteer <br />board ot"individuals who have freetv given of their time, talent and patience over the past <br />20 years; and ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council and Mayor hereby acknowledee that the <br />Lakewood communin.' has benefited many times over by a da~: that sparkles~with beauty <br />and creativi .ty, with the excitement of new discovery and the joy of visitine with friend's <br />and neighbors, now theretbre, ' - <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />That this Council and Mayor hereby extend to the members of Lakewood Arts <br />Festival. Inc. their hearty eonbvatulations and deep appreciation on a job well <br />dOne. <br /> <br />2. That Saturday.
