RESOLUTION NO. 727§-9~ BY: Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend JoAnn Boscia for her public service as <br />Counciimember of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. JoAnn Boscia was elected to the office of Councilmember-at-large <br />in the City of Lakewood for the term commencing January 1. 1990, and served in that capacity <br />until December 31, 1997. having chosen not to seek re. election to that office for the term <br />beginning January 1, 1998, and <br /> <br /> WHEEEAS, JoAnn Boscia ably and with distinction served this Council and our <br />community as President of Council for two successive terms in 1990 and 1994, in addition to <br />having ser~Kt as Chair of eight standing committees of Council and actively contributing to all <br />committees espedally the vital Finance Committee, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, JoAnn Boscia's leadership skills were evidenced in the National <br />League of Cities ~ she served as President and Vice President of Women in Municipal <br />Govemment, Chair & Vice Chair of the Community & Economic Development Steedng <br />Committee as wee as Program Committee Chair for League conferences, and <br /> WHEREAS, during her tenure, JoAnn Boscia presided over controversial issues <br />with courage and stsm~ and was regarded by her peers as a ~dedicated, caring and <br />responsible' public servant, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, her accomplishments inciude a progressive Fair Housing Law for <br />the City, a re.organization of the Council Committee structure and the creation of "on-the-road' <br />meetings, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the efforts JoAnn Boscia made toward understanding the hard <br />work involved in several of the city depmtments were especially appreciated by the members <br />of the safety forces who she mad along with on various shifts, and Refuse employees she <br />trucked with during grilling garage pick-ups, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, JoAnn's Boscia's dedication to the City of Lakewood involves a <br /> remarkable and ~ i'~t of memberships to boards and commissions, participation in school <br /> issues and campaigns, ~ ex~ptionai volunteer work for the betterment of the entire <br /> community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. 'ae~t~er JoAnn Boscia is to be remembered for being silver haired <br /> or silver-tongued, she shines brightly to those fortunate enough to have worked with her;. now, <br /> therefore, <br /> <br /> BE iT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD. STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Seclion 1. That this Council and Mayor wish to commend JoAnn Boscia for tier <br /> dedicated service as Cmmciimember-at-large for the City of Lakewood and furrier that this <br /> Council wishes her cuntinu~ years of healtll, happiness and prosperity. <br /> <br /> Seclfon 2.
