R.ESOLUTION NO. 7295-98 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commemOrate the late John T. Swentek for service to his <br />country during World War II, for a lifetime of service to this community, and to express <br />the sympathy of the Mayor and Council of the City of Lakewood to his bereaved family <br />and friends. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, John T. Swentek, a U.S. Navy Veteran, sen'ed his coun~ during <br />World War ri as a crewmember of the light cruiser USS Savannah. fighting numerous <br />battles against the Axis powers in the Atlantic, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his wartime service continued as a crewmember of the USS Alaska, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, upon the conclusion of World War II, $ohn T. Swentek lived in <br />Lakewood and served his community as an active member of the Lakewood Democratic <br />Club, an elected member of the precinct committee, and as a leader in Ward 4, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, John T. Swentek assisted senior citizens on eleCtion days by driving <br />them to the polls, as well as helping them with absentee ballots; now therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City of Lakewood, through its Mayor and City Council, <br />honors the memory and service of John T. Swentek and extends its deepest sysmpathies <br />to his fi'lends and family. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
