RESOLUTION NO. 7300-98 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, FlannerT, George, <br />Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of March 22-28, 1998 as Tornado <br />and Flood Safety Awareness Week and urging participation in safety activi- <br />ties; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the Governor of the State of <br />Ohio and the Board of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County declaring Tornado and <br />Flood Safety Awareness Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in an area of the State of Ohio <br />described as Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life <br />and injury to persons and property from tornadoes are high; and Cuyahoga <br />County is also located in an area of the State of Ohio wherein there is the <br />potentift for the loss of life and injury due to the perils of floods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such threats as <br />tornadoes and/or flooding can result.in saving of lives and prevention of <br />injury, particularly among special populations such as schools, day cares, <br />nursing homes and health care facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Tornado Safety Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, <br />March 25, 1998 at 9:50 a.m., and that such exercise shall be specifically <br />designed for cou~)ty-wide elementary school and local municipal participation <br />and for testing of the Emergency Broadcast System and other appropriate <br />components of the emergency management; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section i. That this Council and the Mayor join with the Governor <br />of Ohio and Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring March 22-28, 1998 <br />as Tornado and Flood Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and <br />supports the county-wide Tornado Safety Exercise that will be conducted on <br />Wednesday, March 25, 1998 at 9:50 a.m. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed <br />to forward a certified copy of this Resolution each to Edwin C. Price, <br />Director, Department of Justice Affairs, and to Murray A.
