RESOLUTION NO. 7519-98 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Plannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application <br />by the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's Office <br />for funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education <br />program, and co~mending the Division of Police for its <br />continued efforts to educate young people of the City of <br />Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREA~, the Division of Police (Police) has <br />operated the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program <br />since 1990; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating <br />D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary and middle schools within <br />the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive <br />influence on the young people of the City through education as <br />to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the n,~mher of students participating <br />in and graduating from the D.A.R.E. program increases annually; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued <br />operation of the D.A.R.E. program is available from the Ohio <br />Attorney General's Office; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OF OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby <br />support the grant application by the Division of Police to the <br />Ohio Attorney General's Office for the funding for the City's <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby <br />support the Division of Police for its continued efforts in <br />educating young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol <br />and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and <br />she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified <br />copy of this Resolution to Matthew Biscotti, Chief, Division of <br />Police, 12650 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a <br />copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> PRESIDENT <br /> <br /> <br />
