RESOLUTION NO. 7322-98 BY: Corr±gan, Flannery, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Sk±ndell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Jessica Trnkns, A!_ison Trnkus, and Jim Ward <br /> for their recent victories in the Clev 'eland Area Soap Box Derby race held June 13 and 14, <br /> 1998. <br /> WHEREAS, the Soap Box Derby program is designed as a parent-child <br />endeavor where the parent/guardian is expected to help in the construction of a soap box car, <br />enhancing mutual respect ~nd trust between parent/guardian and child and demonstrating <br />the hnportance of individual pride and sportsmanship, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ]essica Trnkus ~bly and with distinction exhibited individual <br />pride, outstanding sportsmanship and won 1st place in the Stock Car Division, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Alison Trnkns, displayed dedication and perseverance and won <br />3rd place in the Super Stock Car Division, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Jim Ward demonstrated the results of hard work and <br />commitment in winnl.g !nd place in the Masters Division, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many will credit the victories Jessica Trnkus, Alison Trnkns and <br />Jim Ward enjoy to their detailed attention to floorboards and axle mountings, to their focus <br />on brake pedals and eyebolts, to their mechanical know-how of loc.kwashers and steering <br />systems, but for those who know the Trm~as family it is the family bond, they have <br />secq~rely fastened and attended to over the years thai is ultimately responsible for <br />propelling them to success, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, [hese 'Lakewood winners have brought recognition not only to <br />themselves but to [he entire community as well and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ~ Council desires ii to be known by [he residents of this City <br />that it supports and recognizes the dedication and hard work it takes to achieve such <br />accomplishments; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council for, and on behalf of [he residents of [he City of <br />Lakewood, hereby expresses its congraiulations and commendation to Jessica and Alison <br />Trakus and Jim Ward for excelling in the Cleveland .~rea Soap Box Derby, and further <br />wishes to extend heartfelt encouragement to les~ica Trnkns as she competes at the AH <br />American Soap Box Derby World Championship in Alcron, Ohio, on August 8, 1998. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
