RESOLUTIONNO 7390-99 BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proalatining the week of March 7-13, 1999 as Tornado and Flood <br />Safety Awareness Week and urging participation in safety activities; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the GovernOr of the State of Ohio and the <br />Board of Commissinners of Cuyahog~ County declaring Tornado and Flood Safety <br />Awareness Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in the area of the State of Ohio described as <br />Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and <br />property from tornadoes are high; ai~d Cuyahoga County is also located hi an area Of the <br />State of Ohio wherein there is the potential for the loss of life and injury due to the perils of <br />floods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for sucti threats as tornadoes and/or <br />flooding can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special <br />populations such as schools, day cares, nursing tiomes and health care facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ a Tornado Safety Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, March 10, <br />1999, at 9~50 am., and that such exercise shall be specifically designed for county-wide <br />alementary school and local municipal pa~cipati0n and for testing of the Emergency <br />Broadcast System and other appropriate components of the emergency management; now, <br />therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1 That this Council and the Mayor join with the Governor of Ohio and <br />Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring March 7-13, 1999 as Tornado and Flood <br />Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and supports the county-wide Tornado <br />Safety Exercise ttiat will be conducted on Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at 9'50 a~m. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to forward a <br />certified copy of this Resolution each to Craig Tame, Acting Director, Department of Justice <br />Affairs; and to Murray A.
