RESOLUTION NO 7397-99 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION requesting the City of Lakewood Administration to work <br />with the NOrth Union Farmers Market, Inc towards a limited Lakewood Farmers Market <br />Pilot Project for 1999 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, most Lakewo0d residents rarely have space nor the time to <br />grow their own fresl~ fruits and vegetables, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS1 small farmers in northern Ohio who grow fresh fruits and <br />vegetables need to sell their produce locally to stay in business, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a successful Farmers Market has been operating on <br />Saturdays in Shaker Square since 1~96, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Shaker Square market is organized by the North Union <br />Farmers Market, Inc., a nomproflt organization of community volunteers, which contracts <br />with farmers and imposes strict rules and procedures, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the farmers would like to expand in 1999 to a west side <br />location for a Wednesday market; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE iT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br /> Section 1 That this Council request the City of Lakewood Administration <br />to work with the North Union Farmers Market, Inc. towards a limited bakewood Farmers <br />Market Pilot Project for 1999 <br /> <br /> Section 2. That necessary legislation or temporary amendments be <br />speedily forwarded to CounCil for action, and that the pilot project be assessed both <br />during the markets and afterWard to judge the affects on the residents and businesses of <br />Lakewood <br /> <br />Adopted' <br /> <br />Approved- <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
