Warren as Lakewood's 1999 recipient of <br />the Cuyahoga County Entitlements Group's Uttsttttg Hero itt Fair Housi,g Award. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Unstmg Hero i~ Fair Housing Award recognizes the work of an <br />organization or individual committed to promoting fair housing in a community to ensure <br />that ali citizens have the right to equal housing opportunities; and <br /> <br /> WHF..REAS, as a Lakewood resident, Mary C. Warren's commitment to <br />community involvement spans four decades and includes civic activities with a local <br />scope and those that have influenced community and social programs on a regional and <br />national level; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mary C. Warren served as a member of the charter committee that <br />organized The Cuyahoga Plan of Ohio in the late 1960's after the passage of the Civil <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mary C. Warren testified at a congressional hearing about the need <br />for mbsidized housing to assist the elderly in the City of Lakewood resulting in the <br />eventual development of both the Westerly and Fedor Manor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mary C. Warren served as a member of the Community <br />Development Advisory Committee during the early years of the Community <br />Development Block Grant Program; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ma~ C. Warren has served the Lakewood Lea~e of Women Voters <br />since 1964, including three terms as president and currently serves as chairperson of the <br />Cultural Diversity Committee, a position she has held since 1997; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewoed Leagu~ of Women Voters is ~urrently conducting an <br />ongoing project to study and promote multicultural understanding and unity among <br />Lakewood residents; and <br /> <br /> WItEREAS, last but certainly not least, Mary C. Warren was an active member of <br />the PTA throughout the school careers ofber children; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby commend Mary C. Warren as <br />Lakewood's 1999 recipient of the Cuyahoga County Entitlements Group's Unsung Hero <br />in Fair Housi~tg ~4ward. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mary C.
