KESOLUTIONNO. 7408-99 BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend Dr. P. Joseph Madak as winner of the 1999 Ohio <br />Superintendent of the Year Award. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ohio PTA bestows this honor annually m recognize a school <br />superintendent who demonstrates outstanding achievement and communication with the <br />PTA. smffand community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. P. Joseph Madak has served as superintendent of the 14-school, <br />7,500-student Lakewood School District since 1995, having earned the community's trust <br />and enthusiastic support as evident through overwhelming voter approval of the 1999 <br />school levy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under Dr. P. /oseph Madak's sound fiscal management and <br />leadership, Lakewood City Schools were recognized by Money Magazine as one of the <br />nation's best buys in public education for offering academic excellence at a reasonable <br />expense to taxpayers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. P. Joseph Madak xx~ nominated as the 1999 Superimendent of <br />the Year Award by Lakewood PTA President Debra Sweeney because of his outmanding <br />contributions to the success of Lakewood Public Schools through a unique combination <br />of leadership, vision and skilled communications with parents, teachers and the <br />community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. P. Joseph Madak's academic accomplishments, scholarsM'p and <br />experience have been oomm~anity ~. as he earned his Ph.D. in Educational <br />Iasmaction and a Masters Degree in Eduea~on f~om Kent State University, as well as a <br />Bachelors Degree from the University of Dayton; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. P. Joseph Madak is an active member of various community and <br />professional organimtions, including the United Way, Greater Cleveland School <br />Superintendents Association, the Council for Academic Excellence, the Lakewood <br />Chamber of Commerce and the Alliance for.~lequate School Funding; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby commend Dr. P Joseph Madak as <br />winner of the 1999 Ohio Superintendent of the Year Award and offer our ~untinued <br />appreciation for his leadership of Lakewood City S~hools and his dedicated service to the <br />children and families of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Se~ion 2.
