Resolution No. 7 419 - 9 9 <br /> <br /> By: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> <br />Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A Resolution supporting the grant application by the Division of Police to the Ohio <br />Attomey General's Office for funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, <br />and commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts to educate young people of the <br />City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education (D.A.R.E.) program since 1990; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currentiy operating D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary and <br />middie schools within the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the <br />City through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the D.A.1LE. <br />program increases annually; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the D~A.R.E. program is <br />available from the Ohio Attorney General's office; NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY TI-IE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the grant application by <br />the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for the funding for the City's Drug <br />Abuse Resistance Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of Police for <br />its continued efforts in educating young people of the City as to the haz~,~ls of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council he and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Dan Clark, Chief, Division of Police, 12650 <br />Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution he spread upon the <br /> <br />minutes of the meeting. <br />Adopted: ~ / <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br />~5 COR / <br /> <br /> <br />
