RESOLUTION NO.: 7434~99 BY:corrigan, FitzGerald, George, Rot~, <br /> Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION declaring November 3,1999, Boy Scout Troop 81 Day in <br />the City of Lakewood., <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, seventy-five years ago, the congregation of the Lak~wood <br />Baptist Church agreed to sponsor a Boy Scout troop, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this troop was designated as Troop 81, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, hundreds of young boys became responsible young men <br />through their Troop 81 scouting activities, enriching no~ only their lives, but the lives of <br />many hi the community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Troop 81 ha~ helped a~d needy members of the community <br />every year, including extraordinary work during World W~r IL collecting scrap <br />alumlnrun and rubber, participating in war bond parades, distributing defense circulars, <br />and gathering farm crops, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the troop has volunteered for the Metreparks by building a <br />blue bird trail, working with park offldals to eradicate alien plants, and helping park <br />cars at festivals, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Troop 81 has helped thank the Lakewo0d Baptist Church for <br />their sponsorship by pafficJpating in maintenance projects inside and outside the <br />church, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood was entextained by the presence of <br />Troop 81 and Pack 81 in parades over the seventy-five years of the troop's llfe, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many adults contributed to the troop activities a~ leaders, <br />assistant leaders, merit badge connselors, and volUntedra in many o~her Ways, each one <br />passing on the sc6ut lessons of duty, honor, and helping others; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this City Council of Lakewood declare November 3, 1999, <br />Troop 81 Day in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Boy Scouts of America Troop <br />81, and that a copy of tiffs Resolution be spread upon the minutes of tiffs meeffng. <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />c <br /> <br /> <br />
