RESOLUTION NO. 7439-99 BY: Fitzgerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br /> A RESOLLrrION to honor the Lakewood High School B6ys' Cross <br />Country Team for their outstanding performance during the 1999 Cross Country Sessom <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the LHS Boys' Cross Country program has finished the <br />century with storewide recognition as the nmnber one cross country team in Ohio, based <br />on State Me~t finishes, since 1928; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, tiffs year~s Boys' Cross Country Team continued a tradition of <br />excellence by winning the OHSAA District and Regional meets and qualifying for the <br />State meet in Columbus on November 6th; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, at the state Meet on November 6th, the Boysr C2oss Country <br />Team f~ished a strong sixth in a field of the sixteen best boys' cross country teams in <br />the State; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, swift-of-feet Rangers Jason Soja, Lucas Dorsch, Colin <br />McLelland, Joe Schreiner, Andy Helbig, Aaron Johnston-Peck, and Mike Vucetic rml <br />with conviction and courage to the finish line; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the sixth place finish by the Boys' Cross Cotmtry Team was <br />remarkable against Ohio's top teams for a team that was ranked only 15th during the <br />entire season; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the overall finishes by Rangers Jason Soja (Sth in 15:47), Lucas <br />Dorsch (12th in 15:58) and Michelle Sikes (10th in 18:56) earned these titree LHS runners <br />recognition on the awards podittm at Scioto Downs as All-Ohio runners; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by their outstandgng athletic accomptiahmemts and good <br />spor~snmltship, togethe~ with the expert gttidance of their dedicated coaches, Rick <br />Ventura amd Pat Colenmn~ the Lakewood High School Boys' Cross Country Team has <br />brought position, recognition and honor, not only to themselves, but to our entire <br />community; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Sedion 1. That we honor the Lakewood High School Boys' Cross Country <br />Team ~or their outst~nding athletic achievement during the 1999 Cross Country Seasom <br /> <br /> Section 2- That the Clerk of Council be m~d she is hereby autholqzed and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Coach Rick Ventmta, Lakewood <br />High School, 14100 Franklin Boulevard, Lakewood, Ohio, 44107, and that a copy of this <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeth~g. <br /> <br />MJ~YOR <br /> <br /> <br />
