RESOLUTION NO.: 7464-00 BY:Corigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming April, 2000 as Census Month in <br />the City of Lakewood, and April 1, 2000 as Census Day. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of America requires a census of <br />its inhabitants every ten years; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a decennial census has been conducted 'in the United States of <br />America without fail since 1790; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the year 2000 is a designated year in which to conduct a census; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the results of the census are used as the basis for determining <br />representation in the United States House of Representatives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the results of the census are used to 'determine funding for many <br />programs and services that directly affect the residents of the City of Lakewood, such as mad <br />improvements, housing assistance and rehabilitation loans, school lunch programs, health care <br />services, programs to assist children and the elderly, programs to assist low-income families; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, census forms will be mailed to each household in Lakewood on <br />approximately March 15, 2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the official date of the census is April 1, 2000; now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby declare the month of <br />April, 2000 as Census month in the City of Lakewood, and April 1, 2000 as Census Day. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council and the Mayor urge all citizens of Lakewood to <br />perform their civic duty and respond to the census in a complete and timely manner to. the benefit <br />of all residents of the City of Lakewood, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Ad°pted:~/l~ ¢ ~ <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
