' <br /> A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor of the City of Lakewood to <br />enter into an Agreement for the establishment of the First Suburbs Consortium of <br />Northeast Ohio Council of Governments. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 167 of the Ohio Revised Code, provides that governing <br />bodies of two or more municipal corporations or other political subdivisions may enter <br />into an agreement with each other for the establishment of a regional council consisting <br />of such subdivisions, which Council shall have the powers and duties as set <br />Chapter; and forth in said <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council hereby determines that the public peace, health, safety <br />and welfare of the City of Lakewood and its inhabitants will be thereby promoted and <br />preserved by membership of the City in a council of governments presently consisting <br />of the municipalities of Bedford, Cleveland Heights, Euclid, Fairview Park, Garfield <br />Heights, Maple Heights, Parma, Shaker Heights, South Euclid, University Heights, and <br />Warrensville Heights, established pursuant to Chapter :[67 of the Ohio Revised Code; <br />and <br /> .WHEREAS, the purpose of the proposed First Suburbs Consortium of Northeast <br />Ohio Council of Governments is to foster cooperaUon between municipalities in matters <br />of mutual concern, including but not limited to initiation and support of policies and <br />practices which protect, maintain and redevelop mature communities and other matters <br />which affect health, safety, welfare, education, economic conditions and regional <br />development. <br /> <br />OHIO: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be authorized and directed to execute an <br />agreement for establish ment of the First Suburbs Consortium of Northeast Ohio Council <br />of Governments in the form and content presented to this City Council, attached to this <br />ordinance, made a part hereof and marked xh~b~t A. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby approved as the Representative to the <br />First Suburbs Consortium of Northeast Ohio Council of Govern ments and is hereby <br />directed to inform this City Council, from time to time, as to the programs, functions <br />and activities of such Council of Governments as may affect or be of interest to the City <br />of Lakewood and its inhabitants. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any Of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />~PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: ~'~/~ <br /> <br />Seelie <br /> <br /> <br />
