RESOLUTION: 7606-01 BY: Corrigan, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION ~ honor the Lakewood High School CHris' Cross County Team for <br />their ou~mnding performance during the 2001 CroSs Counh7 Season. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the LHS Girls' Cross Country program has, enhanced their statewide <br />reputation as one of the elite cross country teams in Ohio by qualifying for the State Meet for the <br />first time since 1991; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this year's Girls' Cross Country team continued this tradition of excellence <br />by finishing third at the OHSAA District Meet and fourth at the Regional meet and qualifying for <br />the State Meet in Columbus on November 3a; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, swift-of-feet Rangers MicheHe Sikes, Julie Schlenkeman, Megan <br />MacRae, Katie Wil-tz, Ellen Robbins, Rachel Zubricky, and Ellen Maher ran with <br />conviction and courage to the finish line; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the thirteenth place finish by the Gifts' Cross Country team was remarkable <br />against Ohio's top teams for a team that was unmnked during the entire season. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the overall finish by Ranger Michelle Sikes (1s' place in 17:49) earned her <br />the distinction as Lakewood High School's first female State Champion in the 24-year history of <br />Cross Country. Miehelle was also recognized at Scioto Downs as an All-Ohio runner; and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by their outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, <br />together with the expert guidance of their dedicated coaches, Daniela Andrews and David <br />Shaw, the Lakewood High School Girls' Country Team has brought position, recognition, and <br />honor, not only to themselves, but to our entire eommurfity, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the Lakewood High <br />School Girls' Country Team this expression of our pride in your accomplishments, and our <br />appreciation for the fmc publicity you have brought to our community. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
