RESOLUTION NO.: <br /> <br />7642-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming the week of March 17m - 23fa, 2002 as Severe Weather <br />Safety Awareness Week and urging participation in safety activities; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the C, overnor of the State of Ohio and the Board <br />of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County declaring Severe Weather Safety Awareness Week; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Cuyahoga County is located in the' area of the State of Ohio described as <br />Tornado Alley, wherein the potential hazards of toss of life and injury to persons and property <br />from tornadoes are high; and Cuyahoga County is also located in an area of the State of Ohio <br />wherein there is the potential for the loss of life and injury due to the perils of floods; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such threats as tornadoes and/or <br />flooding can result in the saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special <br />populations such as in schools, day cares, nursing homes and health care facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a Tornado Safety Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20th, <br />2002, at 9:50a.m., and that such exercise shall be specifically designed for county:wide <br />elementary school and local murfieipal participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcast <br />System and other appropriate components of the emergency management; now, <br /> <br />BE IT.RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO; <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor join with the Governor of Ohio and <br />Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring March 17th - 23fa, 2002 as Severe Weather <br />Safety Awareness Week in the City of Lakewood and support the county-wide Tornado Safety <br />Exercise that will be conducted on Wednesday, March 20t~, 2002 at 9:50 a.m. <br /> <br /> Section 2: That the Glerk of Council be and she is hereby directed to forward a certified <br />copy of this resolution each to Craig Tame, Director, Department of Justice Affairs, and to <br />Murray A. Withrow, Manager, Emergency Services, 1255 Euclid Avenue, Suite 102, Cleveland, <br />OH 44115-1807. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br />t' <br /> <br /> <br />
