RESOLUTION NO: 7663-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A RESOLLrI~ON commemorating the Berkshire Condominium's Fffiieth Anniversary. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Berkshire Condominium was constructed fffiy years ago as the <br />Berkshire Apartments; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, W'flliam Magazine, the original owner and builder, constructed the Berkshire <br />Apartments as a replica of the Berkshire building on Massachusetts Avenue in Washington, DC; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in 1979 when buildings started converting from apartmems to <br />condominiums, the Berkshire was one of the first to make this change; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Berkshire continues to be home to a diverse community that includes <br />young professionals, medical students and retirees; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, local celebrities who have called the Berkshire home include Cleveland <br />Indian players Herb Score and Joe Charheneau, radio and television personalities Bill Randall, <br />Gene Carroll, Paige Palmer and Bill Rudman, Cleveland Browns player Gerald (Ice Cube) <br />McNeil, and philanthropist Irene Wiser, daughter of the founder of White Sewing Machine, and <br />various local corporate leaders; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, over the past fifty years, the Berkshire has provided a home and been a <br />source of enjoyment for hundreds of people; now therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That this City Council of Lakewood recognize the Berkshire Condominium <br />Association on their fifty year anninversary. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a <br />certified copy of this resolution to the Berkshire Condominium Association to be displayed at its <br />Fiftieth Anniversary celebration and spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approve~~/~ L[i Z6~ ~- <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
