RESOLUTION: 7666-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell. A RESOLUTION to honor the St. Edward High School Eagles Varsity Basketball Team for their outstanding performance during the 2001-2002 Basketball Seasor~ WHEREAS, the St. Edward Basketball program has continued their statewide reputation as one of the elite Basketball programs in Ohio by trave!in£ to Columbus four times in.the last seven years to compete in the Final Four; and WHEREAS, this year's Basketball team continued this tradition of excellence by finishing witha season record of 20 wins and 6 losses; and WHEREAS, St. Edward captured the 2001-2002 district championship and went on to capture the regional title by beating rival St. Ignatius in i~ont of a sold-out Cmnd Arena and advancing to the State Final Four by beating Toledo St. John, the number one ranked team in Ohio; and WHEREAS, by tbeir outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, togethor with the ~xpert guidance of their d~licated coaches -- head coach Eric Flannm-f, assistant coaches Anthony Reed, Tom Bodie and Don O'Toole -- the 2001 St. Edward Basketball Team has brought position, r~ognition, and honor, not only to themselves, but to our entire community, now, tberefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That th~ Council and Mayor, hereby extend to the St. Edward Varsity Basketball Team this expression of our pride in your accomplishments, and our appreciation for the fine publicity you have brought to our communky. Section 2.
