Resolution No. 7674-02 <br /> <br />By: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> <br /> A Resolution supporting the grant application by the Division of Police to the Ohio <br />Attorney Oeheral's Office for funding for the City's Drag Abuse Resistance Education program, <br />and commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts to educate young people 6f the <br />City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drag Abuse Resistance <br />Education (D.A.R.E.) program since 1990; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs m all elementary and <br />middle schools within the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the <br />City through education as to the buT~rds of alcohol and drags; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating fi:om the D.A.R.E. <br />program increases annually; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the D.A.R.E. program is <br />available from the Ohio Attorney General's office; NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE iT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the grant application by <br />the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for the funding ftr the City's Drug <br />Abuse Resistance Education program. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of Police for <br />its continued efforts in educating young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Douglas Sabalth Acting Chief, Division of <br />Police, 12650 Detroit Avenue; Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this <br />Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any o£its committees that resulted <br />in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Adopted:~,~ f 7' 20t~,.2 <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
