RESOLUTION NO. 7693-02 BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell. <br /> A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to participate in fire prevention <br />activities at home, work and school, and to heed the message: "Team Up For Fire Safety? as the <br />2002 Fire Prevention Week theme suggests. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, cooking, heating and electrical fires represent three of the nation's 'leading <br />causes of home fires and are cOllectively responsible for nearly half of all home fares and almost <br />one-third of the associated fire deaths; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, developing a home fire escape plan and practicing ft at least twice a year are <br />critical to escaping a fire safely; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, proper installation, testing and maintenance of smoke alarms are part of a <br />thorough home fire escape plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 2002 Fire Prevention Week theme - "Team Up For Fire Safety" - <br />teaches the public how to prevent cooking, heating and electrical fires, and encourages people to <br />develop a home fire escape plan that includes working smoke alarms; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Division of Fire is dedicated to the safety of life and property from the <br />devastating effects of fire; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, those members of the Lakewood Division of Fke are joined by other <br />concerned citizens of this City, as well as businesses, schools, service clubs and organizations in <br />their fire-safety efforts; and <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor designate and proclaim October 6-12, 2002 as <br />Fire Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of Lakewood to <br />participate in fire prevention activities at .home, work and school and to heed the message: <br />"Team Up For Fire Safety!" <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forwarda copy this ResolutiOn to: Chief Lawrence E. Mroz, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison <br />Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this' Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted:.~T2~(~-~/~-, //~-O0)_. p~ ~ <br /> <br />Approved~~¢~M'~- I'~/ <br /> <br /> <br />
