RESOLU~ON NO. 7740-03 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Dever, Dumn, FitzGerald, <br /> George, Roth, Seelie. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to honor Michelle Sikes of the Lakewood High School Girls' Cross <br />Country team for her outstanding performance during the 2002 Cross Country season. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes earned the distinotion as Lakewood High School's firm <br />female All-American in the 24 year history of Cross Country by finishing 15~ at the National <br />Cross Country Championships at Balboa Park, SanDiego, on December 14, 2002; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Miehelle Sikes was recognized for finishing third at the Footlocker Regional <br />Cross Country Championships, held at University Wisconsin Parkside on November 30, 2002, <br />earning a spot on the Footlocker National Cross Country Team for the second time; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes has been awarded a full Athletic Scholarship to attend Wake <br />Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina in the fall of 2003; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized for finishing second at the Midwest Meet of <br />Champions in Day~on, Ohio on November 16, 2002; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Miehelle Sikes was recognized for finishing third at the OHSAA Cross <br />Country Championships at Scioto Downs, Columbus and recognized there as an All-Ohio for the <br />fourth consecutive year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized as the OHSAA Regional Cross Country <br />champion for the third consecutive year and was recognized as an All-Region runner for the <br />fourth consecutive year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Sikes was recognized as the OHSAA District Cross Country <br />Champion for the third consecutive year and was recognized as an All-District runner for the <br />fourth consecutive year; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, by her outstanding athletic accomplishments and good sportsmanship, <br />together with the expert guidance of her dedicated coach, Daniela Andrews, Michelle Sikes has <br />brought position, recognition and honor, not only to herself; but to the entire Lakewood <br />Community, now, therefore: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That we honor the Miehelle Sikes for her outstanding achievement during the <br />2002 Cross-Countl~ season. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this resolution to Michelle Sikes, Lakewood High School, 14100 <br />Franklin Blvd., Lakewood, Ohio 44107, and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the <br />minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />President <br /> <br /> <br />
