<br />RESOLUTION NO: 7887-04 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize The Family Life Center of Lakewood for their contributions <br />and investment in early childhood services within the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />Whereas, in 1998 8erea Children's Home and Family Services assumed the operation of <br />a childcare facility in Lakewood which later opened in January of 2000 as The Family Life <br />Center of Lakewood and this action retained available quality childcare openings in the City <br />as well as increased the capacity of childcare services with the addition of three after school <br />programs in local elementary schools, and <br /> <br />Whereas, in 2001, Berea Children's Home and Family Serv1ces received $45,000.00 in <br />funds from the Rosie O'Donnell, For All Kids Foundation and $8,200.00 from the Ohio <br />Community Development Finance Fund for interior renovations to The Family Life Center of <br />Lakewood facility located at 13523 Detroit Avenue and full scale improvements were made to <br />the kitchen and bathroom facilities and the infant/toddler building, and <br /> <br />Whereas, The Family Life Center of Lakewood has continued to expand programs to <br />serve more children in the City of Lakewood and provides quality early childhood education to <br />children from 6 weeks of age through preschool, for school-age children at two before and <br />after school programs for children kindergarten through 5th grade and through a summer camp <br />for school age children, and <br /> <br />Whereas, each April recognition is given nationaUy and locally to efforts that foster <br />the well being of young children and the focus of the Month of the Young Child April 2004 <br />includes recognizing Early Childhood Professionals and service provided by organizations such <br />as The Family Life Center of Lakewood; and now therefore be it, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor recognize The Family Life Center of Lakewood, <br />a program of Berea Children's Home & family Services for their contributions and Investment <br />in early childhood services within the City òf Lakewood. <br /> <br />Settion 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Resolution.to: Dottie Buckon, 12650 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and <br />a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Section 3.
