<br />RESOLUTION NO. 7920-04 <br /> <br />BY: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Durin, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 3'". 2004 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial <br />Day in the City of Lakewood <br /> <br />WHEREAS, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day serves as a public <br />reminder of the risks firefighters take to protect the lives and property of others; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 2003, 111 firefighters died in the line of duty in the United States, <br />including 4 in the State of Ohio; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the <br />Firefighters of this country make fOr the protection and well-being of all our citizens, <br />and; <br />WHEREAS, the Fallen Firefighter Memorial is a symbol of our eternal sorrow and <br />gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Firefighters of Lakewood will be honoring their fallen brothers <br />and sisters across this nation on Sunday, October 3"', 2004, at 12'00pm, at the <br />memorial sculpture located at 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Fire Station No 1; <br />now, therefore' <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of <br />America's Firefighters by declaring October 3'", 2004 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen <br />Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at the half <br />staff in their honor. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a copy this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, <br />Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit <br />Avenue, c/o Daniel J. Herdman , Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution <br />be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Section 3.
