RESOLUTION NO : 7972-05 BY~ Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. A RESOLUTION proclaiming March as American Red Cross Month in the City of Lakewood WHEREAS, In 1943 President Franklin D Roosevelt proclaimed March as the first Red Cross Month in an effort to recogni~e the tireless and brave efforts of the American Red Cross volunteers who assisted our armed forces during World War II. Since that time, the tradition has continued, ·and recognition is given to all people who dedicate their services in conflicts throughout the world; and, WHEREAS, Red Cross Chapters across the country use this month to increase visibility of the programs and services the Red Cross provides in order to raise awareness of the ¿rganization in the communities it directly serves; and, WHEREAS, As a result, the public has a better tUlderstanding of the mission of the Red Cross which is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies; and, WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the work of the Red. Cross by declaring March as Red Cross Month in the City of Lakewood BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section I That this Council and Mayor declare March 2005 as Red Cross Month in the City of Lakewood Section 2 That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy this Resolution to' Gloria Hricko, American Red Cross, 3747 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44115-2596a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, Section 3, It is found and determined thàt all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of tillS resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of tills Council and of any of its connnittees that resulted in such fonnal action were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements Adopted' Mk.J-- ì, ¿Oð .;- Q~.4 PRESIDENT 10/ÁG 7,42f CLERK Approved' ~ ¿l Jo:;:í , i2ir0~/~~
