<br />RESOLUTION NO: 7989-05 <br /> <br />BY: <br /> <br />Corrigan~ Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION to honor Mary Ann Mescan as she retires after forty-two <br />years of teaching. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Mary Ann Mescan began her career in 1963 at Our Lady of <br />Angels in Cleveland's West Park Neighborhood and then came to St. Luke School in <br />1978; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miss Mescan bas been remembered by two generarions of <br />former middle-school stndents as the "Grammar Goddess", as they nsed her notes <br />throughout both high school and college, and many attribute they're snccess in mastering <br />langnage skills to her early grammatical guidance; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miss Mescan initiated the Ministry to St. Patrick's Hunger <br />Center Program for eighth grade stndents to accompany her to the Hunger Center on the <br />tlrird Tnesday of every month to help serve the needy; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miss Mescan has been a life-long resident of Lakewood and an <br />excellent influence on the many yonng futures she has helped to shape; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that Mary Ann Mescan be given public <br />cognizance and recognition, and our most sincere best wishes as she heads into <br />retirement, giving her more rime to spend sipping Pepsi at the Indians and Browns games, <br />and traveling to Windsor and other new and exciting places, now, therefore, <br /> <br />, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITÝ OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OI-IIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor extend to Mary Ann Mescan this expression of <br />gratitude for 27 years of dedicated teaclring to the students of St. Luke School; and to Wish her future <br />health and happiness in his retirement. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is 4ereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this Resolurion to Mary Ann MescaIl, '<Uld that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Secrion 3.
