B Dknt ohio, Butler, <br />P~ESOLUTIONNO 8095-06 Y' emro, De~r, FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION establishing the creation of a Winterhurst Citizen's Task Force <br />to conduct an objective assessment of the operation of the municipally owned facility and <br />to make recornmendations for its future viability <br /> <br /> WHEREAS Winterhurst Ice Rink has historically been a Valued community asset <br />that the City has a strong interest in maintaining and enhancing for the public good, and <br /> <br /> WtlEREAS this municipally owned and operated facility required a significant <br />subsidy fi'om the General Fund this year and will requ/re extensive capital improvements <br />in the near term, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS it would not be prudent financial or strategic planning to continue to <br />operate the facility on a deficit budget, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS the creation of a task force to examine existing operations, market <br />conditions, capital needs, management scenarios, and potential for regional cooperation, <br />is essential to ensuring a strong future for the rink, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section I That a Wintethurst Citizen's Task force of fifteen members be <br />established to investigate, deliberate, and discuss the aforementioned goals in anticipation <br />of providing a repor~ of their findings to this body by October 2, 2006 <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the task force consist entirely of Lakewood res/dents, seven <br />individnally appointed by members of this body and eight appointed by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the task force shall receive no remuneration for its service and <br />shall have a point of contact in the Depattanent of Public Works should it need limited <br />assistance for basic tasks <br /> <br /> Section 4 That the task force shall devise its own officers, governance, and place <br />and time of assembly <br /> <br /> Section 5.
