<br />A RESOLUTION recognizing that the month of May 2006 has been designated as National Preservation Month and
<br />acknowledging the 2006 Preservation Award winners within the City of lakewood.
<br />
<br />WHERAS, the City of Lakewood has been identified as having many historic properties and has long been
<br />recognized as a leader in historic preservation issues; and
<br />
<br />WHERAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has been established to serve in an advisory capacity for the
<br />purpose of educating¡ informing, and making recommendations to City Officials, Departments, Boards and Commission,
<br />and the community on matters relating to historic preservation; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board has instituted an awards program to honor exemplary projects
<br />that have contributed significantly to improving the qUality of life in the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our
<br />historic architectural resources; and \
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. Gary Fix, Chief Executive Officer of First Federal of Lakewood, 14806 Detroit Avenue has been
<br />selected to receive the 2006 Preservation Award for Sustained Maintenance; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. Peter Kowalski, of the Maxxum Group has been selected to receive the 2006 Preservation Honor
<br />Award; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Messrs. Bob Acciarri, George Draeger, Ron Lucien, Dean Scerbin and Ben Wright, of 18630 Detroit
<br />Avenue LLC, have been selected to receive the 2006 Preservation Award for Commercial Revitalization¡ and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr John Waddell, of Waddell Architects, 17526 Madison Avenue, has been selected to receive the
<br />2006 Preservation Award for Commercial Revitalization; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. &Mrs. John Jamieson and Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Mellino, have been selected to receive the 2006
<br />Preservation Award for a Sympathetic Addition; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. & Mrs. Daniel Lavelle and Mr. & Mrs. Robert McCabe, have been selected to receive the 2006
<br />Preservation AWard for Rehabilitation; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. Brian Hartwig and Mr & Mrs" Jay Gardner, have been selected to receive the 2006 Preservation
<br />Award for Sustained Maintenance; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, Mr. Dough Fawcett of The RaUy Group LLC, has been selected to receive the 2006 Preservation Award [
<br />for Porch Rehabilitation for 18247-49 Sloane Avenue.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the intent of this awards program is to recognize and publicize the preservation, rehabilitation,
<br />adaptive reuse, and sustained maintenance of historically and architecturally significant properties in the tity of
<br />Lakewood, NOW "rnEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br />Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor recognizes that the month of May 2006 has beendesjgnated as
<br />National Preservation MOr)th and acknowledges the 2006 Preservation Award winners who have contributed significantly
<br />to improving the City of Lakewood through the preservation of our historic architectural resources.
<br />
<br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy
<br />of this Resolution to Richard J. Sicha, Chairman, Lakewood Heritage Advisory Board, and that a copy of this Resolution be
<br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
<br />
<br />SEmON 3. It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating
<br />to the passage of this Resolution were passed in open meetings of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this
<br />Council and of any of its committees that resulted in any such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in
<br />compliance with all legal requirements including the City's Charter and Codified Ordinances.
