<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />8120-06 <br /> <br />BY: Antonío~ Butler, Demro, Dever, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION supporting the Cuyahoga County Health & Human Services <br />2 9 mil replacement and reduction levy <br /> <br />Whereas, this is one of two county levies that support our most vulnerable <br />citizens, it is currently a 3 0 mil levy that has been in place at the same level since it was <br />approved in 1989; <br /> <br />Whereas, the levy revenue provides the base funding for the County's child <br />welfare, public assistance, senior citizen and homeless prevention agencies as well as <br />funding for the MetroHealth Hospital, the local share of foster-care, adoption and services <br />to children at risk all come from the health and human service levies <br /> <br />Whereas, early childhood programs ensure that our youngest residents receive <br />services and support necessary to grow up safe, healthy and prepared for school and that <br />as these children are supported in their growth and development, they will continue to <br />thrive as productive future citizens of our region; <br /> <br />\Vhereas, senior citizens, through the '''Options'' and "Passport" programs receive <br />home health care assistance in their own homes which help them maintain their <br />independence and prevent them from needing to move into assisted living or nUrsing <br />home facilities; <br /> <br />\Vhereas this levy is a critical piece of our community safety net, available for all <br />of us at any time, <br /> <br />Section 1 That the Members of Lakewood City Council and Mayor <br />enthusiastically endorse the <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this resolution to the Cuyahoga Board of County Commissioners and <br />that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, <br /> <br />Section 3 It is found and determined that all forma] actions of this <br />Council concemingand relating to the passage oftbis resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that aU such deliberation of Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements <br /> <br />Adopted' :;;, f~ s-: 1..ó I ¿ <br /> <br />~.L' <br /> <br />President . <br /> <br />APproved;,~, 11 ~& <br /> <br />
