RESOLUTION NO 5135-06 BY' Antonio, Butler, Demro, Dever <br /> FitzGerald, Madigan. <br /> A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 8th, 2006 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial <br /> Day in the City of Lakewood <br /> WHEREAS, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day serves as a public <br /> reminder of the risks firefighters take to protect the lives and property of others; and, <br /> WHEREAS, 115 firefighters died in the line of duty in 2005, and 4 additional <br /> fatalities resulted in 2005, from injuries sustained while on duty in previous years; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the <br /> Firefighters of~this country make for the protection and well-being of all our citizens, <br /> and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Fallen Firefighter Memorial is a symbol of our eternal sorrow and <br /> gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Firefighters of Lakewood will be honoring their fallen brothers it <br /> and sisters across this nation on Sunday, October 8th, 2006, at 12'OOpm, at the <br /> memorial sculpture located at 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Fire Station No 1; <br /> now, therefore' i <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of <br /> America's Firefighters by declaring October 8~h, 2006 in the. City of Lakewood as Fallen <br /> Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at the half <br /> staff in their honor <br /> Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br /> directed to forward a copy this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, <br /> Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit <br /> Avenue, c/o Dave Dargay, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be <br /> spread upon the minutes of this meeting <br /> Section 3.
