RESOLUTION NO. 8206-07 BY: Antonio, Butl:r, Demro, . Dever, FitzGerald, Mad~gan, Seelle. A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 7th, 2007 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial Day in the City of Lakewood. WHEREAS, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day serves as a public reminder of the risks firefighters take to protect the lives and property of others; and, WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the Firefighters of this country make for the protection and well-being of all our citizens, and; WHEREAS, these courageous public servants have inspired us with their dedication and professionalism; <;Ind, WHEREAS, we can draw greal strength from this example of selfless service to others; and, WHEREAS, 106 firefighters died in the line of duty in 2006, and, WHEREAS, the Fallen Firefighter Memorial is a symbol of our eternal sorrow and gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice; and, WHEREAS, the Firefighters of L<;Ikewood will be honoring their fallen brothers and sisters across this nation on Sunday, October 7th, 2007, at 12'OOprn, at the memorial sculpture located <;It 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Fire Station No 1; now, therefore' BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of America's Firefighters by declaring October 7'h, 2007 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at half staff in their honor Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be <;Ind she is hereby authorized <;Ind directed to forw<;lrd a copy this Resolution to the L<;Ikewood Association of Firefighters, Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit Avenue, c/o Dave Dargay, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
