<br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />8206-07 <br /> <br />BY: Antonio, Butl:r, Demro, . Dever, <br />FitzGerald, Mad~gan, Seelle. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION proclaiming October 7th, 2007 as Fallen Firefighter Memorial <br />Day in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day serves as a public <br />reminder of the risks firefighters take to protect the lives and property of others; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and sacrifices the <br />Firefighters of this country make for the protection and well-being of all our citizens, <br />and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these courageous public servants have inspired us with their <br />dedication and professionalism; <;Ind, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, we can draw greal strength from this example of selfless service to <br />others; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 106 firefighters died in the line of duty in 2006, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Fallen Firefighter Memorial is a symbol of our eternal sorrow and <br />gratitude for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Firefighters of L<;Ikewood will be honoring their fallen brothers <br />and sisters across this nation on Sunday, October 7th, 2007, at 12'OOprn, at the <br />memorial sculpture located <;It 14601 Madison Avenue, in front of Fire Station No 1; <br />now, therefore' <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO' <br /> <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, will commemorate the sacrifice of <br />America's Firefighters by declaring October 7'h, 2007 in the City of Lakewood as Fallen <br />Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City of Lakewood flags will be flown at half staff in <br />their honor <br /> <br />Section 2 That the Clerk of Council be <;Ind she is hereby authorized <;Ind <br />directed to forw<;lrd a copy this Resolution to the L<;Ikewood Association of Firefighters, <br />Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit <br />Avenue, c/o Dave Dargay, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Section 3, It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an <br />open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any <br />of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the public <br />in compliance with all legal requirements <br /> <br />Adopted' ()~~I. 2..cJÒ+.- <br /> <br />Ç?~.k <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />~/7,bfQðW^' <br />CL RK <br /> <br />Approved' !ÓcL-'S"J fJro) <br />. <br /> <br />~~.~ <br />MA OR . <br />
