<br />RESOLUTION NO. 8260-08 <br /> <br />BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, <br />Dever, Madigan, Powers. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of at least five (5) members elected to Council otherwise, it shall take effect and <br />be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing the Mayor, as Safety <br />Director, to enter into an agreement on behalf of the City to accept equipment, training <br />and travel valued at $30,000, from the Office of National Drug Control Policy, <br />Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center to assist the Lakewood Police Department <br />in its mission to arrest those committing drug offenses and keep Lakewood a safe <br />community to work and live. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Technology Transfer Program is a federally funded program <br />under the Office of National Drug Control POlicy, Counterdrug Technology Assessment <br />Center (ONDCP / CTAC) that provides state of the art counterdrug technologies to <br />state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies at no charge to the agencies; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the fundamental goal of the Technology Transfer Program is to <br />provide investigative technologies on a permanent basis to state, local and tribal law <br />enforcement agencies based on an identified counterdrug need and demonstrated <br />requirement; and <br /> <br />< <br />WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto <br />determines that this resolution is an emergency measure, and that this resolution shall <br />take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in ARTICLE III, SECTONS 10 and <br />13 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and <br />to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that target area <br />enforcement cannot begin until the agreement is executed. Now, Therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Mayor, as Safety Director, is hereby authorized to enter into <br />an agreement on behalf of the City of Lakewood, to enter into an agreement on behalf <br />of the City to accept equipment, training and travel valued at $30,000, from the Office <br />of National Drug Control Policy, Counterdrug Technology Assessment Center to assist <br />
