RESOLUTION NO. 8282-08 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application by the Division of Police to the <br />Ohio Attorney General's Office for funding for the City's Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education program, and commending the Division of Police for its continued efforts to <br />educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse <br />Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) .program since 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary <br />and middle schools within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people <br />of the City through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br />WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the <br />D.A.R. E, program increases annually; and <br />WHEREAS, funding to support the continued operation of the D.A.R.E. program. is <br />available from the Ohio Attorney General's office. Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That the Mayor and the Council hereby support the grant <br />application by the Division of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for the <br />funding for the .city's Drug Abuse Resistance Education program. <br />Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of Police <br />for its continued efforts in educating young people of the City as to the hazards of <br />alcohol and drugs. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council <br />concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Councii and of any of its <br />
