RESOLUTION NO. 8294-OS BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, <br />Madigan, Powers, Summers. <br />A Resolution to acknowledge the lOs' anniversary of the American Center for <br />Conflict Resolution Institute. <br />WHEREAS, Tonya Dominick-Higgins founded the American Center for Conflict <br />Resolution on October 22,1998 as afor-profit organization which provided mediation, arbitration <br />and training services in dispute resolution, and <br />WHEREAS, the American Center for Conflict Resolution Institute later formed <br />and transitioned into anon-profit that provides educational training services to improve the <br />quality of life of its students by providing affordable, quality educational programs using various <br />distance learning methods for hundreds of individuals throughout the community, and <br />WHEREAS, on October 1, 2007, the American Center for Conflict Resolution <br />Institute purchased two adjoining office condominiums containing 1200 square feet in office <br />space in the Carlyle Condominiums to accommodate expansion, and, <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick-Higgins has mediated over 800 cases with clients <br />that include the Better Business Bureau, the United States Postal Service, and the Custody <br />Mediation project forthe Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Dominick-Higgins is the author of the book How to Make it Big <br />Resolving Disputes and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show along with Dr. Phil in "The Get <br />Real Challenge, and <br />WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper to acknowledge the 10's anniversary of a <br />thriving business with roots in Lakewood and to further commend Tonya Dominick-Higgins on <br />her continued success; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor congratulate Tanya Dominick-Higgins on the <br />10`s anniversary of the American Center for Conflict Resolution Institute and further wish her <br />continued success in her business endeavors. <br />Section 2.
