RESOLUTION N0. 8488-11 BY: Bullock, Butler, ..Turin, Madigan, Powers, Nowlin, Smith. A Resolution authorizing the donation for the sale of 150 surplus fire alarm boxes to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local 382 of the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO with the proceeds to be donated to the City of Lakewood Fire Department Bequest Fund for the establishment of a September llt" memorial in front of Fire Station 1 located at 14601 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. WHEREAS, it is fitting an proper that the public recognize the service rendered n y firefighters who gave their lives in the performance of their duties protecting the citizens of Lakewood; and WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the public recognize the service and sacrifice of firefighters, other safety forces, and citizens who perished. on September 11, ZOll; and WHEREAS, the fire alarm boxes are no longer in service, have been removed, will not be replaced, are of no identifiable trade value and therefore are expendable; and WHERAS, it is the desire of Lakewood City Council, the Mayor and the Fire Chief to recognize outstanding service of the Lakewood firefighters and all those who perished on September il, 2001. Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood hereby approves the donation for sale of 150 surplus fire alarm boxes to the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local 382 of the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO to be sold and the proceeds to be donated to the City of Lakewood Fire Department Bequest Fund for the establishment of a September 11th memorial in front of Fire Station 1 located at 14601 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio. Section 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the Lakewood Association of Firefighters, Local 382 of the International Association of Firefighters AFL-CIO in a form approved by the Director of Law to carry out the intent of this donation for the funding of a September 11th memorial.
