RESOLUTION NO. 8521-11 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to participate in fire prevention <br />activities at home, and to heed the message, "Protect Your Family From Fire" as the 2011 Fire <br />Prevention Week theme suggests. <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department is dedicated to reducing the occurrence of <br />home fires and home fire injuries through prevention and protection education; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Prevention Bureau will visit elementary schools from <br />October 3`a through October 7th, to speak to the children about the importance of smoke alarms <br />and home fire escape plans, and demonstrate firefighting equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes <br />are the locations where people are at greater risk from fire; and <br />WHEREAS, residents who have planned and practiced a home fire escape plan are more <br />prepared and will therefore be more likely to survive a fire; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2011 Fire Prevention Week Theme, "Protect Your Family From Fire" <br />effectively serves to remind us all of the simple actions we can take to stay safe from fire during <br />Fire Prevention Week and year-round; now therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor designate and proclaim October 3`d - 7`h, 2011 as <br />Fire Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of Lakewood to <br />participate in fire prevention activities at home. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this Resolution to Chief Scott K. Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison <br />Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br />Section 3.
